![]() Maybe, if there’s the faintest slither of gas left in the tank, I’ll then fall asleep during an episode of Netflix’s excellent new animated series The Midnight Gospel. Perhaps there’s some correlation – rise, write, eat, write, sleep has become the standard format of my daily existence. The majority of games I’ve been playing under lockdown have been simple, childish and more often than not, retro. My nostalgia kick hasn’t just led me to Streets Of Rage 4, a flashy if faithful update of the early ’90s classic sidescrolling beat ’em up – new and free for Xbox Game Pass members right now, FYI. I haven’t eaten Pop-Tarts in at least 25 years. I opened it up, only to be amazed that the contents were three boxes of chocolate chip-flavoured Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts I’d seemingly ordered during a particularly vulnerable moment. The other day an Amazon package arrived for me. After all, the world’s present state of being has seen me retreat into nostalgia in a variety of other ways. Or spending most of my nights sat at my laptop inputting the words ‘what is the apocalypse like, then?’ into Google. Or to get a haircut (I live in fear that the very instant that UK lockdown measures are eased I will find myself sighted within the target of a sniper, shot through the head and my body preserved as evidence of Bigfoot). There is, of course, much about the present reality of the modern world I did not expect. Get on over to the App Store or the Google Play store now so you can get yourself a copy of this mobile game.I’ll be honest: I didn’t expect to be sitting here in 2020 writing about how I’m enjoying a Streets Of Rage game so much. Now, don’t expect the Streets of Rage 4 mobile version to be on the same level as the console version because that’s not how things work, but do expect this to be a beat ‘em-up game of a high standard, especially considering it’s working off mobile technology capacities. The other additions to this game involved a new combo meter and various little details that enhance the series tenfold. The game felt just like the classic Streets of Rage titles but better in every single way the mechanics were a lot smoother, the gameplay way more fun, and the visuals were a lot more vibrant. ![]() Streets of Rage 4 was a revitalized version of the beat ‘em-up genre, and it really took things to the next level. What To Expect From The Streets of Rage 4 Mobile VersionĪs you would expect from the Streets of Rage series, this mobile version hopes to include chaos of the same ilk as the console’s versions, with 17 iconic characters and some new and exciting fighting mechanics, too – this is a mobile beat ‘em-up game like none before it. And if you need a small dose of nostalgia, you should watch the trailer below. ![]() The release of the Streets of Rage 4 mobile version on Android and iOS means that it also comes with a brand-new trailer that will surely get your blood pumped. So, there’s really only one more thing to do, get those fists… ahem, we mean, fingers ready so you can take on the Streets of Rage 4 mobile version yourself. The Streets of Rage 4 mobile version has finally landed, and you can now play this modern classic beat ‘em-up title for the ripe old price of $6.99 on Android and iOS digital stores.
